Introduction

The H.R.H. Princess Abze Djigma Foundation is a non-profit organisation. It supports the commitment and work of H.R.H. Princess Abze Djigma’s in fulfilling her responsibility as an African Mossi Princess to improve the life of the women and the youth in the bottom of the pyramid and in the informal sector.

The H.R.H. Princess Abze Djigma Foundation primary focus is to provide light and energy for productive use to those who have no or limited access to electricity, by supporting the roll-out of the MAMA-LIGHT® Initiative for Sustainable Energy, a Worldwide program that provides access to affordable and sustainable energy for women, youth and small businesses. It empowers the informal sector, it drives the generation of new jobs and it creates a sound basis for gender equality and women empowerment. The program is selected by the United Nations at the Solutions Summit at UN General Assembly in 2015 as one of the 14 breakthrough solutions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

With her activities and programs the H.R.H. Princess Abze Djigma Foundation supports the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and helps the Least Developed countries (LDC’s), the Land Locked Developing Countries (LLDC’s) and Small Island Developing States in implementing the Paris Agreement with realizing their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC’s) and with the MAMA-LIGHT® Carbon Offset.

Light and electricity are basic conditions to study, for health and to earn money. Over 1 billion people worldwide have no or limited access to electricity and light.. They don’t have the means to invest in these basic living conditions. Healthy light in the evening is a pre-requisite for children and students to study, especially in those countries where it is already dark every day around 18.00 hour.

Light and energy are conditional to lower the mortality rate of births and to increase local health care

Productivity

Light and energy are a pre-requisite to increase local productivity: working after 18.00, using (simple) machinery, making irrigation possible, etc
